Polonnaruwa was a big step up from Anuradhapura. The well designed museum was filled with lots of archaeological finds and information. The site was also more impressive with the old city stretched out along a picturesque lake. The ruins were much more intact with impressive Buddhist paintings, a large rock featuring the story of the ancient civilization carved into it, and a small but unique lotus shaped pool.
