Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
In the Land of Buddha - I

The old city in Anuradhapura is not that impressive, especially considering the steep $25 admission charge. While there are some nice stupas and the ancient Bodhi tree, most of the rest of the ruins are just building foundations. The most impressive was the brilliant white stupa of the Ruwanwelisseya Dagoba and its elephant lined outer wall. The large pool must have also been a great construction feat although its green water doesn’t seem well suited for swimming or bathing.
